UK Hotel Quarantine Food Diary Day 3 - Tomato Sauce on your Croissant?

London Hotel Quarantine London Food Blog: Day 3 Friday Menu

Breakfast

Hmm. What’s wrong with this first picture?

So by now I was starting to think that the hotel quarantine food wasn’t bad, and I know they got my special breakfast order because, well you’ve read the last three days about breakfast and what it should contain so you know. However clearly someone in the kitchen can’t read.

A phone call to the kitchen to correct the mistake and it wasn’t long before there was a knock at the door and another bag lay outside waiting (“bag 2”).
So what started out as a very meagre looking breakfast became a feast for anyone who loves tomato sauce on their fruit and croissant in the morning….

Lunch

Todays soup was coconut and chilli. Again I only know this because I checked the menu but it tasted nice enough and today’s bread roll was surprisingly good, crispy and still warm (unlike the soup).

The main course was a Sweat Chilli Chicken Wrap, it was exactly what you might expect from a supermarket wrap, chicken goujons coated in sweet chilli and wrapped in a green leaf of some sort before being wrapped in another layer of tortilla. Nothing to write home about but the best lunch so far by quite some margin.

A piece of fruit, a packet of crisps completed the meal, and I’ve just realised that the fizzy drink was missing today, no loss since I so far haven’t drunk any of the fizzy drinks provided.

Dinner

Ahh, dinner. By now I was starting to look forward to dinner each evening and this evenings dinner was Lamb Rogan Josh, I have to be honest when I saw it on the menu on the day I arrived I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant other than it was lamb curry of some kind and couldn’t be worse than the alternative of tofu and noodles.

This Lamb Rogan Josh was delicious! While there was a little bit of heat it was mild enough for most people to eat even if they don’t generally like curries, the lamb was tender and the flavours in the source left me wanting more. Definitely better than tofu and noodles.
